We have a great summer full of new activities - June through August

 

It's summer - no regular workouts - just fun activities!

Saturday Summer Activities will take place about every other week.  Some details may change due to weather conditions or availability - so check back periodically for updates.  Note, you may need to RSVP in advance (will be noted below)


As always, all activities are free.  We do ask that you RSVP for some activities because we need to know in advance how many will be joining us/there may be a limited number of spots available.  To get more information about workouts or events, contact us at info@AchillesHouston.org. 

JUNE

Activities (note we have one activity on a Monday evening)

  • June 8 - Wheelchair Basketball

    • Who: Athletes, family, volunteers/guides - MMSC is supplying the equipment/wheelchairs.  

    • When: 10 am​

    • Where: MMSC (Metropolitan Multi-Services Center) - 1475 W Gray, Houston

    • RSVP - Need to know how many so we can have enough wheelchairs.

  • June 17 (Monday) - Chase the Moon Run. ​​ 

    • When: Monday, June 17 from 6:45 pm to 8:45 pm
    • Where:  Meet @ Achilles base in Memorial Park.
    • Registration Required (Free: HERE)

  • June 22 - Yoga - Join us - Carl from Expedition Balance will lead us 

    • When:  10 am

    • Where: MMSC (Metropolitan Multi-Services Center) - 1475 W Gray, Houston

    • Yoga Mats:  If you have one, please bring.  If you need one, please RSVP here.

JULY

 

Saturday Activities

  • July 20 - Kayaking

    • Who: Athletes, guides/volunteers, family

    • When:  9 -11 am​

    • Where (LOCATION UPDATE) Riva Row Boathouse, 

      • 2101 Riva RowThe Woodlands, TX 77380

  • Details:

    • Bring: Water, sunscreen, shoes that can get wet

    • Waiver Required - you can fill it out at the Boathouse, or online in advance HERE

  • NEW: July 27 - POUND -- We are joining with the West End Running Club for a fun, energy-boosting activity

    • What: "POUND fitness incorporates drumming techniques with pilates and yoga moves. Using light weighted drum sticks, you help create the beat to each LOUD & BLOOD PUMPING song!"

    • Who: Athletes, guides/volunteers, family

    • When:  10 am

AUGUST

Saturday Activities:

  • August 17 - Origami

    • When: 10 am

    • Where: MMSC (Metropolitan Multi-Services Center) - 1475 West Gray, Houston 77019​

    • Taught by our own athlete Max

  • August 24 - Skydiving

    • Who: Achillles Athletes & Guides (volunteers needed as well)

    • Restrictions: Must be at least 18 years old.
